PDF Pals Classic

Classic is the original PDF Pals: PDFs only, macOS 13 or later. v2 is the new version, with more file types and built-in local models. It needs macOS 14 or later.

Switch to v2

• Choose Try the New PDF Pals… in the app menu and click Switch to v2. PDF Pals restarts in v2.
• Or open Settings ▸ Experience, click Switch to v2 and Quit, then Quit and Switch, and open PDF Pals again.

Both need macOS 14 or later.

v2 starts with its own library: bring your documents, prompts and providers over with Import from Classic. To go back, open Settings ▸ Lab in v2 and click Switch to Classic….

Quick reference

• License: the same key works in Classic and v2. Unlink a Mac with Settings ▸ License ▸ Unlink Device. Activation Limit Reached means all your Macs are in use: unlink one first.
• AI providers: add them in Settings ▸ Models. Classic has no built-in local models; use Ollama or LM Studio.
• Open PDFs from a browser (website edition): set a shortcut in Settings ▸ Integrations ▸ Web Browsers Integration.
